Privacy Policy for Wealth Compass

Last updated: August 4, 2026

Wealth Compass ("the app") is a personal finance tracking app for Android. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use it.

Summary

Wealth Compass never collects, transmits, or shares your financial data — the accounts, transactions, holdings, budgets, and goals you enter always stay on your device. The app has no user accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. Starting with this version, the app can make a small number of narrowly-scoped network requests for optional features described below — none of them ever send your personal or financial data anywhere.

What data the app stores, and where

All financial data you enter (account balances, transactions, investment holdings, budgets, goals, and related notes) is stored in a local database on your device only. This data is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, under any circumstance.

Optional live price lookups

If you choose to link a holding to a live price source, the app can fetch the current market price for that specific stock, mutual fund, or cryptocurrency from public data providers (Yahoo Finance, AMFI, CoinGecko). These are read-only, one-way lookups: the app sends only the public ticker/symbol needed to look up a price, and nothing about you, your account, or your holdings is included in the request. This only happens when you explicitly link a holding and tap "Fetch now" — it does not happen automatically or in the background.

Backups

The app lets you create a backup of your data as a file, entirely at your own initiative:

Backup files are never uploaded anywhere by the app on its own initiative. Where they end up is always a destination you explicitly chose.

Biometric lock

If you enable the optional app-lock feature, authentication is handled entirely by your device's own operating system (fingerprint/face/PIN, whichever you've set up). The app never receives or stores your biometric data — it only receives a yes/no result from the OS.

Permissions the app requests, and why

None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit your financial data off your device.

Third parties

The app does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and does not share your financial data with anyone. The only external services the app ever contacts are the public price-lookup providers named above (Yahoo Finance, AMFI, CoinGecko), and only for the read-only ticker-price requests described there — none of which include any data about you.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, of any age — it doesn't collect data at all.

Your control over your data

Since everything is stored locally, you're always in full control:
